CEU Requirements for Bixby Knolls CNAs / HHA

To meet certification requirements, CNAs must complete a total of 48 hours of in-service training or CEUs within two years.

Out of the 48 required hours, a minimum of 12 hours must be completed each year during the certification period.

You may complete a maximum of 24 of the 48 required hours using an online program approved by CDPH, found on our website.

HHAs must obtain 24 in-service training hours per certification period, with a yearly minimum of 12 hours, excluding online CEUs.
CNA certification is issued for the span of two birthdays, unlike the two-year calendar period.
For example:
● Effective date: 3/20/18
● Expiration date: 5/15/20
● Birthday: 5/15/XXXX
This means:
● The first year within the certification period is March 20, 2018, to May 15, 2019.
● The second year in the certification period runs from 5/15/19 through 5/15/20.
