Why you need CEUs in Encino
As a CNA in Encino, you have two years to meet the required number of units. To stay active, you must complete at least 12 continuing education units (CEUs) each year within these 2 years. Even if you reach 48 hours total, you must still do at least 12 hours annually, or you may lose your certification.

CEU Requirements for Encino CNAs / HHA

CNAs are required to complete 48 hours of in-service training or CEUs within each two-year certification period.

At least 12 out of the required 48 hours must be completed each year within the certification period.

Up to 24 of the required 48 hours may be earned through a CDPH-approved online training program listed on our website.

Home Health Aides (HHAs) need 24 hours of in-service training or CEUs within each certification period, with 12 hours required per year. Online CEUs are not permitted to fulfill this requirement.
CNA certification lasts for two birthdays, not two full calendar years.
For example:
● Effective date: 3/20/18
● Expiration date: 5/15/20
● Birthday: 5/15/XXXX
This means:
● The first certification year runs from March 20, 2018, to May 15, 2019.
● The second year of the certification period runs from May 15, 2019, to May 15, 2020.
