CEU Requirements for San Bernardino CNAs / HHA

Every two years, CNAs are required to obtain 48 hours of in-service training to stay certified.

During each year of the two-year certification, CNAs need to complete at least 12 hours of the 48 required.

Only up to 24 hours out of the total 48 can be obtained through a CDPH-approved online program listed on our website.

Home Health Aides must complete 24 CEU hours during their certification cycle, with 12 hours each year, and online CEUs are not permitted.
The CNA certification timeframe is determined by two birthdays, rather than by calendar years.
For example:
● Effective date: 3/20/18
● Expiration date: 5/15/20
● Birthday: 5/15/XXXX
This means:
● From March 20, 2018, to May 15, 2019, marks the first year of the certification period.
● From May 15, 2019, to May 15, 2020, marks the second year of the certification period.
