CEU Requirements for Santa Fe Springs CNAs / HHA

CNAs are required to earn 48 hours of continuing education or in-service training throughout each 2 years.

A minimum of 12 hours annually is required from the total 48 hours needed for certification.

Out of the 48 hours, a maximum of 24 may be completed using an approved online program found on the CDPH website.

HHAs must complete 24 hours of training over their certification period, with 12 hours each year. Online CEUs are not valid for this requirement.
Instead of two calendar years, CNA certification extends for two birthdays.
For example:
● Effective date: 3/20/18
● Expiration date: 5/15/20
● Birthday: 5/15/XXXX
This means:
● The first year in the certification cycle is from 3/20/18 to 5/15/19.
● The second certification year extends from May 15, 2019, to May 15, 2020.
