A Restorative Nursing Assistant is a healthcare professional skilled in helping patients restore and maintain their functional abilities. An RNA acts as a restorative aide and physical therapy assistant, working within a skilled nursing facility and as part of a rehabilitation team. They help residents recover by moving patients, applying restorative techniques and transfer methods, and ensuring correct positioning and seating through a restorative nursing program. Working with certified nursing assistants, their efforts ensure effective restorative care and the proper use of transfer techniques and body mechanics.

A Restorative Nurse Assistant offers care and rehabilitation to stroke patients, those who have undergone orthopedic surgery, elderly individuals, people recovering from injuries or surgeries, and those with physical or functional limitations. The care provided by an RNA can greatly impact rehab residents' overall health and recovery progress.
