A Restorative Nursing Assistant is a professional trained to support patients in regaining and preserving their functional skills. An RNA serves as a restorative aide and physical therapy assistant within a skilled nursing setting and as part of a rehab team. They contribute to resident recovery by mobilizing patients, utilizing restorative and transfer techniques, and ensuring proper positioning and seating through a restorative nursing program. In cooperation with certified nursing assistants, their efforts achieve efficient restorative care and proper application of transfer techniques and body mechanics.

A Restorative Nurse Assistant delivers rehabilitation and care to stroke survivors, orthopedic surgery patients, elderly individuals, and those recovering from injuries or surgeries, as well as those facing physical or functional limitations. The care given by an RNA can significantly improve the overall health and recovery progress of residents in rehab.
