Become a Certified
Nursing Assistant in San Fernando Valley

A Certified Nursing Assistant, or CNA, helps people manage routine daily needs and provides basic patient care support under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse. This job can also be called a Nursing Assistant, Patient Care Assistant, or Nurse’s Aide, and it offers close involvement in day to day patient support.

San Fernando Valley students often choose CNA education to widen their experience in healthcare environments. Some start as CNAs to prepare for LPN or RN careers, while others are currently enrolled in nursing programs and use CNA work to apply learning in a practical way. Some pursue CNA training mainly to see if a more advanced healthcare path truly feels right for their future.

The LA Skills Academy NAT Program is fully compliant with California Department of Public Health guidelines for Nurse Assistant Training. Students complete sixty hours of classroom and online theory instruction along with one hundred hours of supervised clinical experience at a nearby Skilled Nursing Facility. Each course is taught by licensed nurses with extensive experience, and low student to instructor ratios allow for personalized learning and consistent support. The program holds students to high standards while preparing them for compassionate healthcare service.

Learning methods include lectures, instructional videos, role playing, hands-on skill demonstrations, and clinical rotations that teach tasks such as bathing, dressing, positioning, and vital sign measurement. Career focused training in communication, resume writing, and interview preparation helps students pursue employment with confidence.

After students graduate from the NAT Program, they are eligible to test for the California Nurse Assistant State Exam to become a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA).
