What is a CNA?

In Pomona, a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) plays a vital role in assisting patients with their daily living activities and healthcare needs under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN). CNAs are also known as Nursing Assistants, Patient Care Assistants (PCAs), or Nurse's Aids.

Many individuals use their CNA knowledge as a stepping stone to advance their careers and become LVNs or RNs. Interestingly, a significant number of CNAs are already enrolled in nursing school programs, using this profession to gain real-world experience and further their understanding of the healthcare industry. Others opt for a CNA role to explore their interest in continuing their journey in healthcare.

As a Nurse Assistant in Pomona, you will be a valuable asset in today's world of healthcare, equipped with in-demand knowledge and skills. Our comprehensive program, developed with input from educators, caregivers, and long-term care industry representatives, will guide you in becoming a skilled nurse assistant, setting you on the path to a fulfilling career in the healthcare field.

Certified Nursing Assistant Program

What is CNA Training?

In Pomona, LA Skills Academy's NAT Program offers comprehensive CNA training that meets the rigorous requirements of the California Department of Public Health for Nurse Assistant Training. The program includes 60 hours of classroom/online theory lectures and 100 hours of supervised hands-on clinical experience at a local Skilled Nursing Facility. Our classes are conducted by highly experienced and professional nurses, ensuring a small student-to-instructor ratio for quality training. We uphold a culture of excellence in our fast-paced and focused program, preparing CNA school students to deliver compassionate care within the healthcare system.

Through various teaching methods, such as lectures, videos, role-playing, hands-on skills demonstration, and clinical practice, students acquire essential procedural skills like bathing, dressing, positioning, and monitoring vital signs. Furthermore, our CNA school emphasizes effective communication techniques through life skills training, including resume and interview preparation, enabling students to be job-ready upon graduation. After successfully completing the NAT Program, students become eligible to take the California Nurse Assistant State Exam, paving the way for them to become Certified Nurse Assistants (CNAs) and embark on a fulfilling healthcare career in Pomona.
