Nurse Assistant Training Program

Los Angeles Skills Academy CNA Training: Santa Monica
What is a CNA?
Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) are essential caregivers within the medical system, assisting patients with daily tasks and maintaining their dignity and comfort during care. Known interchangeably as Nurse’s Aides or Patient Care Assistants (PCAs), they work in close coordination with Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs) and Registered Nurses (RNs). From hospitals and rehab centers to long-term care facilities and private residences, CNAs deliver direct support where it matters most.
CNA certification in Santa Monica presents a valuable starting point for individuals who want to begin making a difference in healthcare. Many students pursue this training to gain foundational clinical experience that can lead to further studies in nursing or medicine. Others appreciate the opportunity to earn income while pursuing their education, all while building relevant, transferable skills. For anyone interested in a patient-focused career, CNA training offers an unmatched real-world perspective.
Our program is structured to provide in-depth academic instruction along with significant hands-on training. Students explore essential subjects including personal care procedures, recording and interpreting vital signs, and navigating patient communication effectively. This learning is then applied during clinical rotations that offer guided, experiential learning. Completing the program equips graduates with the ability to care confidently and compassionately in professional healthcare environments.

What is CNA Training?
LA Skills Academy’s Nurse Assistant Training (NAT) program provides an outstanding opportunity for students to launch a healthcare career as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Accredited by the California Department of Public Health, the program ensures a high level of academic rigor and professional readiness. It includes 60 hours of classroom learning—available both virtually and on-site—and 100 hours of practical training in a licensed Skilled Nursing Facility. With instruction provided in small groups by seasoned healthcare professionals, students are guided through every step of the learning process while developing strong caregiving skills and clinical competence. This program is especially suited for individuals seeking a streamlined yet comprehensive entry into the healthcare workforce.
The Santa Monica program site delivers an enriching and interactive learning environment. Through the use of simulation-based labs, real-time demonstrations, educational videos, and realistic role-playing sessions, students build hands-on skills that prepare them for real-world scenarios. Key training areas include assisting with hygiene and mobility, monitoring and documenting patient vitals, and practicing dignity-focused care. To prepare students for employment after graduation, the academy also includes job-readiness components such as résumé-writing assistance and mock interview sessions. Upon completion of the course, students are eligible to take the California State Nurse Assistant Certification Exam, which can lead to immediate employment in hospitals, residential care centers, and other healthcare facilities.

CNA Training From The Best:
LA Skills Academy
LA Skills Academy (LASA) came into being through the efforts of a skilled team of nurses who formerly taught within the American Red Cross Nurse Assistant Training (NAT/CNA) Program. Their mission was to design a learning experience that reflects high standards while being inclusive and adaptable to students' needs. With more than ten years of combined experience in nursing education and clinical care, they created a balanced Nurse Assistant Training (NAT) program that features in-person classes, online lessons, and real-world clinical exposure. As an approved provider of the American Red Cross NAT curriculum, LA Skills Academy remains at the forefront of CNA training by offering a strong educational foundation, experienced instructors, and practical learning environments that prepare students for long-term success in healthcare.
